    100amp sub panel in garage
    I got a friend who has a detatch garage and he wants 100amps run to it. I got about 50 to 60 ft of basement to run through and then I got to go through a brick foundation wall and then I would like to run underground piped to the garage and piped it right to the sub panel. How do I run the sub panel wires non piped through the basement and then into the pipe to the sub panel. I heard its not good to run the feeder cable with the jacket on through underground pipe. And what size should I use. I also got about 40 ft of pipe. For a total of about 100ft or so.

    Why do you want to pipe it? Why not run direct burial cable?

    I know. You didn't get to that chapter in the book.

    Why not pick up one more piece of pipe and run through pipe through the basement and get PVC for the underground conduit. You only need to be down 24" to use the pvc and come up into the panel with a piece of metal conduit ? The pvc is cheap. And the difference will be made up in the cost of the wire I think. Single strands vs cable.
