First of all, I want to thank those who posted their opinion on "on-line romance, worth trying". For those unfamiliar with me, Im a 25 yr old filipino currently involved in a 54 yr old american guy, on-line.

As for his legitimacy, OK, we always see each other on webcam, I personally checked his info (over the net, as early as when we're starting Feb 07), I am allowed to call on his home phone (anytime), I may speak to his 20 yr old daughter living with him and send cards on his home address. Also, one in a while, I tried cross checking some things he told me for a some months/year ago and there's consistency.

I understand apprehensions regarding this type of relationship: We haven't met yet, he's not healthy, our age gap is 29 years, his daughter is alcoholic, we both have depression and there's this so called cultural differences. But if you're going to ask me why I stick to him, I'll say we have an excellent communication and my BF always think what's best for me. He understands that I am young and enjoying life. He's said if I want to date someone younger here, its fine with him. I'm doing it now but I "slightly" let them know where do I stand so no one will accuse me of betrayal.

Last week I wrote about being ignored when I call. I call him everyday sometimes twice because I miss him. Aside from his need for space then, he's been telling me over and over to buy myself something instead of spending it on int'l calls. (That time consecutive "misfortunes" happened. (He lost his int'l calling plan, got his computer repaired for days). We're also in No Call week then because I broke up with him but he won me over back.

I heard and was hurt about stories of deceit involving filipino women. My BF has been flirting online for 10 yrs before he met me. He told me that he used to send a lot of money on different women over here. I asked him why, he said he feel sorry for the stories he's hearing. I said, if a woman spends MOST of the time talking about negativites and tearjerking living conditions (NOTE: It may be true) instead of helping herself, she may not directly ask but implying "send me some" and maybe doing the same thing to others.

While I know some are true and some are exaggerated, similar accusations like these will surface against me in future and I don't want to be belittled just because of the race, culture and a poor country where I came from. I graduated in college, a scholar (till now), currently taking masteral degree & saving money on my own (also, I don't ask my BF to send money& I spend 95% of my int'l calls for him). We haven't met yet, but we will this year. He just have a surgery in line.

Yeah, I'm with Rome was there a question? If your asking about the age difference I approve as when I'm 54 I hope to be dating a 25 year old. If your asking about cultural differences many people have got together with different cultural differences. I would suggest you meet him in person though before you get way to emotionally attached.
