Kenmore washer over flowing after wash cycle
Model # 20872990 After wash cycle water overflowed. Damage to house w/service master 8 fans and 2 dehumidifiers to dry out for $1000 deductible. Appliance repair man not able to find ANY problem! Machine works perfect. His only guess is very infrequent problem of the water level switch not turned 'right on' level desired.
Has anyone heard of this problem or better yet a diagnosis for this problem.
I have no confidence in this machine and my life is too short to stand and monitor it every time I do a load of wash BUT financially it is a difficult time for me to run out and buy a new one.
I appreciate any and all info given me.

Washers can indeed overflow. The waterlevel is controlled by a sensor that measures the pressure of air in a pipe that is open at the bottom, hanging in the tub. Incoming water causes the air above it in the pipe to build up pressure, and after reaching a certain pressure, the switch clicks and the water tap is switched off.
Another possibility is that there was an obstruction in the water valve, preventing the valve from closing completely. Upon new opening of that valve, the obstruction can be removed.

If the problem can't be found, try to prevent next time any resulting damage. There are special low cost basins available (similar to a shower floor). You place your washer in that basin, and connect a hose at one side to the outlet in the side of that basin, and at the other side to a sump or through the wall to outside.

    Success
