Yeah he needed street cred . He was raised far removed from the streets of Chicago .He was Princeton and Harvard educated. Then he moved to Chicago to be an activist. He needed the associations with Rev Wright Pflager ,and screwy Louis (that has not been explored in enough detail yet) to advance a political career . Now he is trying to make a broader appeal so his associations with them hurt him... so hasta la vista .
"I didn't anticipate my fairly conventional Christian faith being subject to such challenge and such scrutiny."
Doesn't that strike you as a bizarre comment to make ? Even he can't believe the radical views of the Unity Church of Christ are conventional .

    Hello tom:

Fortunately for us, most of what YOU consider conventional, isn't conventional at all.

    Nor does Trinity.

And several months ago Rush Limbaugh publicly said the same thing as Father Pflager, but no one lifted an eyebrow --

April 1, 2008 LIMBAUGH: And if they -- you know, if Hillary doesn't get it -- you have to understand the mindset of a lot of these feminists and women. They think they're owed this -- just like Obama supporters think they're owed this. These women have paid their dues. They've been married two or three times; they've had two or three abortions; they've done everything that feminism asked them to do. They have cut men out of their lives; they have devoted themselves to causes and careers. And this -- the candidacy of Hillary Clinton -- is the culmination of all of these women's efforts. And if it gets stolen from them, in their minds -- not actually stolen, but if the country or if the Democrat [sic] Party rejects this wonderfully great, lying woman in exchange for a rookie, radical black guy who can't tell the time of day, they are going to be so miffed. They are going to be so upset.

Oh, yeah. Limbaugh is white. His audience is white.

Rush speaks from the microphone of a radio talk show, and he pays taxes.

Father Pflager, on the other hand, is a priest, speaking from a pulpit, in a so called church, that has a tax exempt status.

    Therein lies a HUGE difference.

Yea, that has to stop. All religious institutions should pay taxes.

Yup part of the quid pro quo is they give up certain free speech rights like endorsing candidates and using their church for political organizing . The fact that churches for years have violated that without penalty is all the more reason for the tax exemption to end.

Answer to the question provided with no regard to other 'answers':

Because, he DOES share those views [ratical black-power-esq views], but he can't admit it. That's why that pastor that he 'doesn't agree with' married him and his wife, and baptised there children. I'm not against obama, eather. I'm just saying the truth.

    Hello:

It's fine with me that he recognizes that racism and poverty are at the root of most of our problems. I don't know who you people are that think this stuff went away... There are some black people out there who are very angry with this country... I don't blame 'em. I ain't too pleased with it my damn self.

Tom, just found this website on the Internet and since most of you are discussing Christian churches and the discussion has led to further discussions on Black and White Americans, was wondering what you think of this posting and what is being said?

How do you figure that? Or could it be that you want Whites out. I would like to hear opinions on what the posting is saying since the conversation has evolved into Black - White issues and points are being made that could be looked into according to the statistics posted.

    NK-

The US has never experienced having anyone other than Caucasians leading from the White House. Yes, I'm painfully reminded as this election process marches forward, that it was only approx 40 years ago that the majority of white society finally felt comfortable enough to share drinking fountains with blacks.

Rush on the radio. Pfleger in church.
Rush voicing his opinion. Pfleger, I'm not sure what his SNL like skit has to do with Jesus or glorifying God.

Oh by the way, I listen to Rush on occasion, And I'm not white.

It's always good to know who thinks and says what about whom and what. The better informed we are, the wiser we hope to become.
