I was recently contacted by an insurance company about two unclaimed life ins policies that were taken out years ago on my grandmother. The lady I talked to said they had value and wanted to confirm all those who were entitled. With my father being deceased, it was his mother, my question is, is my mother whom he divorced before his death entitled to any of the money. Mind you, my grandmother died about 15 years ago while they were still married but were unaware of the policies. We live in ca.

It would help if you were a little more specific on the time line here -- your grandmother died 15 years ago, but when did your father die? And when did your parents get divorced? If your grandmother died while your parents were still married, then your mother may be able to claim that the assets should have been listed in your father's divorce proceedings, as an asset to be split. If your grandmother died after your parents filed for divorce I don't see where your mother could make a claim.
