Hi all,

I'm shopping for a replacement thermostat for my condo. The building has central heat in the winter and A/C in the summer (switched by the building management) and the thermostat controls the in-unit blowers. I have been told that I need a 110v thermostat by an electrician, but beyond that, I don't know what to look for.

The existing thermostat has a single temperature setting, and it somehow knows that in the summer that setting is for A/C (blowers go on when it's too hot) and in the winter it controls heat (blowers go on when it's too cold).

Any guidance on this is appreciated, as I've already had to return two thermostats that were not the correct ones for my situation.

Why are you replacing the tstat?what was/is wrong.you said it was heating in the winter and cooling in the summer

I'm replacing it because although it works it's probably ~40 years old and is pretty ugly. I don't need additional features, just something that works and looks nicer.

OK,, if you have a forced air gas or electric heat and cooling system this meaning you have a furnace with a outside air condition or a package system meaning they both are packaged in one unit.and you are sure,you will need a low voltage (24 volt) heating and cooling thermostat,not a tstat that uses 110 volts.do you have a furnace and a/c seporate for just our condo?

Buy Honeywell or White Rodgers. They are good. Many other kinds are junk.
