Been with this guy on and off for 4 and a half years. It was a crazy relationship but both totally in love. We have been apart for over a year but still in love. We agreed to meet but I got this feeling that it can all end in disaster. I don't think I'll ever meet anyone that I could feel that way about again and that's what is making me go back. We were both violent too each other but managed to control that by stopping drinking, we've both been working hard at getting our own lives together. However I have changed a lot about myself and we only communicate by text at the moment so have no idea how it will go. But I still live in this fantasy that someday it will work out. My friend said we should try counselling together to resolve it one way or another. Does that sound reasonable?

If you both feel that strong about your relationship and you both have overcome the drinking and abuse to achieve that goal, I would say go for just about anything that gets you back together and happy and in love. And stick to your goals.
