Couple questions.. I assume this is a furnace.

#1. How long between it lighting and going out?
#2. Do you have any other gas appliances that are working well at this time. Stove water heater etc?

Make and model is helpful to look up components to trouble shoot. Do you have an error code? Furnaces are supposed to shutdown if you don't achieve full ignition within a set time. If it did not it would blow up. There are many components that facilitate this SAFE ignition, and firing of your burners.

Do you have a manual that tells you where to find YOUR models error codes, or how to read them? Generally you will find them on the inside door of your furnace access panel.
