2002 Mazda tribute won't start sometimes
I have a 2002 Mazda Tribute and at times it won't start, I have changed the fuel pump and filter still having the same problem. Not throwing any codes.

Have you gone over the ignition system and replaced spark plugs, wires, coil, and crankshaft position sensor? All of these items take a beating. If the problem persists, try to "force" a code by keep trying to start the engine when it doesn't want to. It may then throw a code and give you a "tell" on where the problem is. Also, try starting the engine by slightly depressing the gas pedal. If the Idle Air Control Valve (IACV) is staying shut, the engine may be starved for air. Depressing the gas pedal slightly may help you identify a bad IACV, which is normally super easy to replace (go OEM).

When it won't start you can't hear the fuel pump coming on?

. Check/replace the fuel pump relay, if your Mazda has one.

. Remove and clean the contacts going to the fuel pump fuse in the under hood fuse/relay box.

. Check the ignition switch for wear, pitting, or melting, if the problem persists.

When the fuel pump doesn't run, does the check engine light come on and go off normally, when the ignition switch is turned to ON?

Yeah everything lights up then back off. Doesn't throw any codes either.

It does have a fuel pump relay replaced it with one of the other relays still nothing

    Thoughts:

See if your Mazda has a Constant Control Relay Module (CCRM), which are often located next to the battery on Fords. Since Ford used to own a third of Mazda, the technology is often similar. This is a complex module, if your vehicle has one, and you would need to find out how to test the CCRM's fuel pump relay. You may need to refer to a fuel system wiring diagram in a Haynes Manual. Also, reset the inertia switch, if your Mazda has one.

Check and clean all grounds (battery to transmission, battery to fender, firewall to engine, and any others), connectors, and wiring.
