I have two garage door remotes for a Chamberlain opener. One works perfectly, the other doesn't, even after a battery change

The faulty remote may have lost its programming. You need the instructions to know how to reprogram. Procedure vary. Some can be repogrammed with a proper connection from the good remote to the non-working remote, for example.
