    Probation Transfer out of State?
Hey guys. My name is Kimberly and I am new to this site. I am 22 and have never been in trouble. No speeding ticket, drug or anything. I was arrested this year for "theft by taking" and another "theft by taking". I went to court and used the First Offender Act because I knew if I took it to trial I would have a chance of being found guilty by the Jury because a Lie Detector test can not be used in court. I have a stable place to live, I will have a stable job and stable car in Florida with my girlfriend. Where I am living now, I do not have a stable ride to work, I do not have a job (and have applied everywhere) to pay my probation. I have my second report date in the beginning of December and they know that I do not have anything stable in GA for me. I notified them I would not be able to pay probation because of the simple fact I do not have a job and my family is not going to pay it for me. My question is can I move out of state and get my probation transferred?

You will have to get your probation transferred before moving out of state. You should have requested that at court before starting probation, or at the first probation meeting. You should ask for the form and to request it in writing.

From GA to Fl can take 3 weeks normal but up to about 8 weeks

I read the information you gave me. Thank you so much. Where do I find the rules to know if I meet the criteria? Is it in the written policy he will give me? Or can I look it up online?

Chuck: I did not know that I would be better off living in Florida then in the State my probation is in. I have only had one meeting and my second meet is December 13. Can I ask then?

    Hello again, k:

The rules MIGHT be online. You STILL want to send the letter, though. It puts them on notice that you want to go.
