He is a child. He doesn't get a choice. He will adjust, but it will take time. Is he able to see his old friends occasionally?

You be the parent. He's a child, he has no choice in this. He can't live on his own until he's 18. Until then, you make the rules and he follows them. The fact that he doesn't understand this is the major problem, and it comes down to a problem in parenting.

I think you need to be clear in telling him "no" to living on his own or staying behind. At the same time, you should validate his feelings. Do not act like his reasons for wanting to stay are unimportant or invalid. Rather, let him know that you recognize that his reasons for wanting to stay are important and valid, but the needs of the family as a whole take precedence.

First you should not have even had that discussion. You merely tellwhen he is moving, and he does not have a choice.

So at 15, if he could have gotten welfare you make it sound like you would have just left him there.?
