Second, you need to be sure of what actually happened. It is rare that a person's parental rights are terminated. But if your son has been adopted out, or even if he has been in the foster care system for more than a year. It is unlikely you can gain custody.

The caseworker who handled the case should have explained to you what you can do to get your son back. And talking to the caseworker is your best bet.
