I just got out of a 6 1/2 year relationship as of last Saturday. We were perfect for each other , she was the best thing I ever had but I messed up. I stopped treating her like a g/f and wouldn't help around the house. We lived together for 4 years by the way. Near the end she ask me why I dated her and I replied " because your pretty", I had got into this mode of she can't leave me thinking.

Well she left me saying she didn't know why she let things go on as long as she did. She said she had fell out of love with me. I've been devastated and have no desire to even wake up in my day to day life. I let the best thing I had go. She won't answer the phone and blocked me off FaceBook.

I just don't know what to do being I'm 25 and feel that I will never find love like that again not to mention as pretty of a girl as her too. I feel that I'm going to be alone forever now.

If you keep thinking like that of course you're never going to find anyone again. The best thing that you have is you and as far as I'm concerned you've still got you. Stop saying you were perfect for each other because you're not if you've broken up like this.

I think you need this, because you need to work on yourself. You're too dependent upon her. It's shown by this statement...

You have to be able to survive on your own before you can survive with anyone else.

Start moving on. She's clearly doing it if she's not answering and blocking you. That's the first step to moving on and I think you need to start doing it too. Stop trying to contact her and start living your life. If you sit around crying about the past you're going to miss the present and drift by the future.

I've tried to stop contacting her , the last time I tried to call her was on Saturday. The hard part is I can't see me with anyone else. I'm weird for a 25 year old , I don't drink or party. I feel I will never find another mate.

You don't have to drink or party to meet people. Start focusing on yourself, surround yourself with friends, get out and do something, heck try something new, something you've always wanted to but never got around to it. I did it, always wanted to ref hockey and I ended up getting into it, best thing I've ever made myself do. I love it, still do it and probably always will.

Trust me, you'll find someone new. It may look bleak at the moment, eventually you'll be happy again and back to yourself. Just give it time.

Well I also have people telling me to just lower my standards and that opens up a whole new can of worms. I don't know how to lower my standards . I like what I like.

By perspective I meant the places you look not what you see in someone. I probably should have specified.

This is the deal I feel like she was perfect for me but I was to blind to see that. Now that she left me I see where I was doing wrong. Like I said, if you keep up that mentality then you'll never find anyone else. If you change who you are, then you have people like you for who you aren't. You're thinking is completely irrationalized because of the breakup. You need to get out and start doing something with your life, sitting around moping about what could have been will just fill your life with regret and heartache. Do you want to live the rest of your life depressed an crying over the past? If you want to go ahead, but who would want to do that to themselves especially over someone else?

Lets be clear, you are missing what you had and took it for granted while you had it. That's not love, that was dumb. You had to learn your lesson the hard way, and you will.

Going forward guy, leave her alone and give yourself the time to not only get over the shock of being dumped, but to find a better path for yourself besides that "woe is me, I will never find some one else" attitude.

In time you will accept your stupidity, and change it, but it will take a while, and not just a few days, weeks or months.

If you don't change yourself, and attitude, then you will never recover from this. While being dumped sucks for all of us, and your feelings are normal at this stage, you can't just sit on stuck, and not make some changes because you will be sorry for not accepting consequences for your actions, and doing better for yourself. Maybe not with her, but some one else in the future.

Read the stickies here and learn from the insights of others what to do when you get dumped, and get busy.

Never know guy, she may want a second look, or even if she doesn't, some one else may be interested in a closer look. You just never know so get off the pity pot and start making a better person of yourself.

I feel like if she would just give things a chance we could change things. We were together for 6 and a half years. I feel this is a lot to let go over something that can be fixed. Regardless of what I think she left me and doesn't seem to have a worry in the world. What bugs me is she told me she loved me 3 days before she left. We had the best sex ever about 6 days before she left. I thought we were doing good. I mean we had our arguments but nothing to serious. The weekend prior we went to an aquarium , had a blast. I do realize I wasn't the perfect boyfriend but I don't feel I was horrible. I just don't get it. I went through our text messages and 3 weeks prior she was begging me to marry her. How can you go from that to wanting time for yourself. She said she needed to find herself , that she didn't know what made her happy any more and that she was so confused. I don't know how to live without her. I feel I will never met another girl like that, she always had my back. I just can't find joy in anything anymore, all my hobbies just seem boring to me now... Please pray for me.

You're completely hopeless. Completely. All of this heartache you have is because of you. You wake up everyday and choose the mentality and the outlook you have on life. None of us are guaranteed tomorrow and you're spending today crying about yesterday. Live your life! Don't let anything or anyone hold you back. There's a beautiful present and unknown future ahead, why waste that with "what if's" and "why's".
