I have a black and white coming out of box. No ground. I hooked white to white and black to black along with black and white tracer. I keep blowing the fuse

Are there two switches on the wall by the door? If so, I would think that one would be for the fan and the other for a fan light.

If my thinking is correct, then just remove the black & white tracer wire and cap it off. You'll be left with white to white, black to black.
