I've been using my HP presario laptop for almost 5 yrs. Mine is windows xp.
Suddenly I couldn't hear any sound from my laptop. But when I use earphone, it works well! What should I do?

Bad jack... plug came unfastened to the speakers, broken wire or defective speakers.

I'm voting for a loose plug or bad jack.

With thee system being 5 years old I agree with smoothy. However check your sound config in the control panel and make sure you have not turned off the internal speakers and check to see if there are any issues in the device manager

    Hi ,

My name is Rathish and I am working with Dell Social Media Team.
You have mentioned in the post that there is no sound coming from your laptop and when you connect a earphone it works fine.
As advised by cmeek. Please try and check if the volume is muted in sound configuration in control panel.
If it is fine then definitely it's an issue with the speaker of the laptop.

Please let us know if you need any further help.

    Thanks & Regards,
