I replaced the blades on my troy bilt and started the mower to see if they worked. When I tried to move the tractor would not move in low gear. I could place it into 7 or 8 and it wold move fast but at 1 to 5 it would not move or it would try to move very slow at 5. It did the same thing in reverse. It has an electrostatic transmission. Is the transmission going out?

The these sound unrelated. I believe you mean it is transmatic. They occasionally wedge the belts when shut off with the clutch engaged. Getting it up to speed once should solve that. Check the idlers and springs for them.
