Well, is it really? Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard, red caviar as she is known locally, has been lecturing her G20 counterparts on economic management

We would certainly like to see Europe and even the US mirror recent Australian success in economic management but what is forgotten is the pain it took to get there, It wasn't without pain, without industry restructuring, without labour market restructuring, without taxation restructuring, much of which she stood in the way of, that made it possible and we certainly wouldn't like Europe to experience the ineptitude displayed by the Labour Government in managing certain stimulatory expenditures. Gillards recent foray into pump priming is to compensate households ahead of time for increases in power costs from the forthcoming Carbon Tax and to compensate households for having insufficient means to make expenditures on education. This is hardly world class economic management, destroying industries in order to follow an easily discredited plan to lower carbon emissions
