I live in Ohio and my ex lives in North Carolina. He has absolutely not contact with our son so iwant him to give up all his rites so in the future he cnt decide he wants to pick up and finally b a part of our sons life and try to take him but I still need his help financially. So if he gives up his rites would he still have to pay childsupport?

1 - He cannot give up his rights. If you don't believe me - and people often don't - my suggestion is that you go to your local Family Court (wherever the current Order was issued) and asked them.

2 - Unless someone else ADOPTS the child the birth parents are responsible for support.

You cannot keep him out of your son's life. To do so is unfair to the child.

This man was suitable to have sex with. Why is he not suitable to co-parent your child?

And it's rights, not rites.

What makes you think he can give up his rights? There is a myth that a parents can just sign away their rights. But its only a myth.

First it is "rights" not rites, a rite is a ritual in church, like baptism or communion.

Next as well noted, unless you are remarried and the new husband wants to adopt, he can not give up his rights, that is a myth from years ago.

You may file for custody when the child is born and ask for child support though the courts.
He may file for joint custody and/or visitation when the child is born.

If you and he can not reach an agreement is it fought out in court.
