I don't know why it matters to you but, yes, you are gay and this is step #1 of experiencing gay sex.

Instead of focusing on whether it's "gay" (a whole lifestyle or commitment to a particular person, etc. etc.) maybe start by accepting that it's definitely a same-sex attraction which may or may not mean you guys want to explore more layers of gay sex.
