I need to replace a bad section of my cast iron main stack with 4" pvc. I am replacing the vertical straight pip section that connects to the sanitary tee that connects to the toilet drain.

Can the cast iron tee fit into the pvc pipe?
If not, how do I set this up to so that the pvc pipe connects to the cast iron tee on the main stack?

Let me walk you through the process. You will need,
a 4"raiser clamp ,(see image)
a ratchet type soil pipe cutter, (see image
2 4" shielded metal couplings, (see image)
So the stack doesn't fall you'll have to prop the soil pipe up. (see image)
Place the raiser clamp 4 or 5 inches under the tee and cut 2 X 4s to prop up the tee after you make your c ut.
With the upper part secured you may now cut out the bad section.
Measure between the two cuts and cut the PVC 3/8ths of a inch shorter.
Take the metal bands,(less the rubbers) and slip them over the cast iron pipe ends, Roll the rubber back and insert the PVC pipe. Snap the rubbers back and tighten the couplings and your job is complete. Good luck, Tom.
