    The overfill switch is stuck in the "up" position. Scale (lime) will cause this when you have hard water as will soap deposits. The repair manual is here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8010163/Whirlpool_Dishwasher.pdf and I will leave it online for a while. Break it loose and pour a gallon of vinegar in the tub to clean out the scale, or use Lime Away.
