My water pump builds up to 61 psi but won't shut off. Is it the pressure switch?

If the contacts in the control box aren't fused together so the pump can't shut off I would suspect the check/foot valve isn't allowing the pressure to be held and the pump just keeps on pumping, Check the valve out if the control contacts are OK. Good luck, Tom

Thanks ! I checked the contacts n they looked like they were fine, so I pulled the lines that ran to the shut off switch n they were plugged with rust/ sediment. Seems to be fine now!! Thanks again.

My bad! In addition to the foot /check valve not allowing pressure to build I should have also had you check out the small tube that supplies the control box with pressure generated by the pump. Kudos for picking up on it. Tom
