Ac fan stops spining and gets really hot
The ac outside unit fan spins for about 45 minutes then stops spinning and the make a humming noise. I notice that the fan motor gets really hot, that's when it stops spining. Also the air being vented into the house get really hot as if I had the heater on. I turn my ac off for 30 minutes or so then start it back up and works fine(cold air vented) until the fan stops working again. I need help identifying the problem and see what I need to change out. Not really sure if it's the capacitor or the fan motor. Thanks

Check to see if the fan itself is tight on the fan motor shaft.

I checked the fan, its on real good, I also spin the blades and it spins with ease. I took the cover off the outside unit and notice the fan motor is real hot, can't even keep fingers on it more then a second. Notice that when the fan stops spinning the compressor keeps humming and I also hear another noise but not sure, seems to be coming from the capacitor.

Check points of contactor. With insulated screwdirver manually close contactor. When fan blades stop, is fan motor shaft still turning?

A weak run capacitor will cause a motor to over heat. If you have a heatpump a bad defrost control board or defrost thermostat can cause the system to shut the motor off and blow HOT air in to the home. Do you have a heatpump or A/C.
