I had my last period on the 15th of April and today, the 31st of May I still haven't got it, which means am 2 weeks late. Yesterday I noticed a brown discharge, but not enough for a pad or even a liner, just when I wipe. Today it was still there, and would come and go. Once today it was thick but has now gone back to barley any. I went to the doctor today and he told me to take a test, and keep taking them until I either get a positive result or my period comes. Can anybody help and tell me if I could be Pregnant or not? Would really appreciate it!

Your doctor knows you and your health history best. As a RN, I will give you the same advice as your doctor.

Be sure to test using first morning urine and read the test within the allotted time. If it is negative, wait a week to see if your period comes. If not, test again.

In the meantime, take care of yourself as if you are pregnant. Eat healthy, get plenty of rest, avoid tobacco and alcohol. Also, if you are not already, you can get prenatal/antenatal vitamins over-the-counter, be sure to take those during your childbearing years to avoid birth defects such as spina bifida.

I took the test at 5am this morning which was probably too early but I was anxious! It came out negative.
Today I still had some brown discharge but not a lot. At one stage it was slightly heavier and darker, a kind of dark dark red/brown colour, but that only happened once. Now it is gone back to virtually nothing and a brown colour.

Any ideas?

It may be just an off period. We have them every once in a while. Even the most regular woman will have at least one in her lifetime.
