    Hooking up a Hunter There. #44272 / To a Goodman AR36-1 Ac/Heatpump & Elec. HeatStrips
    Wow,
    I'm trying to hook up a new Thermostat to my 3.ton Ac/Heat Pump with Emergency Heat Strips. The Ac unit was changed out about two years ago but the tech had troubles hooking up the Thermostat he had back then, it will freeze you out of the house before shuting off or on the Heat cycle run you out because it gets so hot.
    The Thermostat is a Hunter Model # 44272 " say it's a Universal Electric air Conditioning. Up to 2 stage Heat/2 stage Coolingsystems. With single and two stage heat pumps with auxilary heat 24 volt and Millivolt systems."

    Unit is a two part system The Air Handler is in the atic and compressor is outside. Checked to see what colors went where in atic at air handler, found as follows;

    Wires NOT HOOKED UP Towards Ouside unit from atic;

    Brown

    Pink

    -----------------------------------------------------------|
    Goodman | Towards Thermostat from atic. | Towards Outside unit |
    Red | Red | Red |
    White | White | White |
    Blue |Dark Blue "Not used towards Thermo." | Dark Blue |
    Green | Green | Green "Not used towards the Outside Unit." |
    Yellow "NOT USED COMING OUT OF AIR HANDLER" |
    | Yellow hooked to++++ Yellow Outside Unit. |
    | Orange hooked to +++ Orange Outside Unit.|

    I'm Sorry I could not get the wire colors to lineup with the coulms.
    I hope it makes some kind of idea of what my problem is.
    I just need to know how to wire it up correct.
    Thanks for and help in advance TTweaker...

    The problems you have experienced with temperature control suggest that the system isn't wired correctly, or the previous thermostat wasn't working right for some reason. The thermostat installation instructions don't indicate whether the "C" (blue) circuit is necessary, but a terminal is provided for connecting it. I would suggest doing so if you haven't already. It may minimize drain on the batteries. If you can provide the model # or web link to the indoor unit, a wiring diagram may be accessible. I have concerns that something may be wired wrong there.
