If my mother has custody of my child how do I get custody back?

Why does mother have custody, how did she get that custody,

I live in nc. I gave my mother kinship care of my oldest child (3) and then my youngest child 7 months old I placed with a riend, I have no job and no income. My mom then took me 2 court and took custody of both children. (temp custody)

Well you need to prove to the court that you are now a stable person with the maturity and means to care for your children. When you can do that, you may be able to get custody back.
