You need to explain yourself better.
Please tell us exactly what you are doing.
Normal residential service is 240 VAC and the minimum now set by the NEC is 100 amps.
I thought I would. An industrial unit has a power 600volt 100amp service. I thought I was not going to have enough power in the place. But I was told there would be more then 100amps if dropped to 240volts. How many amps at 240 dropped from 600 , I guess is the question
Roughly 250A at 240v single-phase from 600V-100A single-phase.
OK, that's out of the way. There is still a lot we don't know. I imagine a 600V service is 3-phase. Is the 240v service going to be 3-phase or single phase?
What is this for?
Is this a space you will be renting? Buying?
NONE of this is DIY type work, I hope this is not anything you plan on doing yourself.
Leasing for 3years, heaters, converyor, spot dryer. Definitely not going to be doing this work myself. Can there be more amps at three phase/240? Thanks have a great day.
No, it's the same 250A, but the wattage is proportionately higher.
100A @ 600V single-phase is 60,000 watts.
100A @ 600V 3-phase is 103,800 watts
103,800 watts @ 240V 3-phase is 250A.
Thank you very much that is exactly what I needed to know.
