I have a 6 month old pomeranian, when she needs to do a number 1 or 2 she won't go down to the grass she does in on the back verandah in front of the door. How can I teach her to do it on the grass which is down the stairs from the verandah?

Try taking her out on leash and leading her to where you would like her to use. If she doesn't do anything, walk her around a little. If walking around a little doesn't do it, walk her around a lot. Eventually she won't be able to hold it any longer. Then praise her. Rave about what a good dog she is. Maybe give her a treat. Several repetitions of it should show her it is what pleases you. It may go best the first thing in the morning when she needs to go.
You may want to check the sticky on housebreaking too.
You need to physically lead her to where you want her to go. When she does her #1 and 2 make sure that you praise her. I have a 6 month male, which is harder to train that a female. Or you can crate her to where you want her to go and then make her walk back in the house after.Quote:
