My husband and I have been having problems threats and harassment from his sons mother... and by his mother and sisters... me and my husband have our own kids and I welcomed his family and his son.. they do not let us see him... and frankly my husband has cut off all ties to them he has no relationship with his son since he is military... and we have agreed that it would be best to give up his rights to his son... so that this harassment will stop and not put his son in the middle... how can we do this... is it possible so we have no contact with them... belive me its bad death threats and all please help with your info if you can thanks

Your husband is threatened to death by:
1.His mother
2.His sisters
3.His entire extended family
4.The mother of his son


... and where is the relation between giving up rights and the harassment?

Generally 'Parental rights' mean that a parent
1.may spend /indefinite/time with the child/ as primary custodian,or visitation/
2.has the right and the obligation to make decisions about a child's upbringing.

I understand he chose not to exercise his rights.
What is his purpose of giving up his rights?

In general unless the mother has remarried and the new husband wants to adopt, he can not just sign over his rights,

And if for some reason he got out of his rights his child support would have course still be owed, unless the child is adopted by a new step parent.

So report the threats to the police
Get a restraining order against those family members that are causing trouble.

And as for as seeing the child, set up though the court visit times that the mother has to honor though the courts.

I really don't know where people get the idea they can just give up rights to a child. I don't know anywhere that allows that.

I not sure how you would think that doing so would end the harassment. Even if you were able to do so, how would that stop the harassment?

We just don't know what else to do we are fine still gining child support.. but we just want to break all ties with all of them... this situation is bad they post horrible things about our kids and us... trying to break us up... his sons mother is a gangster and sends me pics with her n guns saying she is going to find us... we live in another state and his son mostly lives with his grandma my husbands mom... he bounces around and is not properly cared for... at first we wanted to seek full custudy of him so we can provide a safe loving home for him... but we lack funds to hire a lawyer... his mom would call his squad leader saying that his sons mother beats him starves him and sells drugs around him we did make reports with cps in New Mexico but have no address for this girl... we don't know what to do.

Have you reported the harassment to the authorities?

That would probably be a really good place to start.

Where do they post these pictures? If they have made provable threats why haven't you brought them to the attention of the police?

I'm also not clear on the relationships here. Your husband's son is now in the military, is that correct? Then why is support continuing? That would mean he's emancipated. Who is doing the harassment? His son's mother? WHY is she harassing the father of her child? What is her problem? If your husband neither sees nor contacts his son what's the issue here?
