Iexplorer and chrome return a connection error but opera can connect
I am getting a connection error with both iexplorer and chrome -- they say that the internet is not available. But I can download updates, read my mail and browse with opera. I have downloaded and re-installed both chrome and iexplorer and they still give an error. I am connected to road-runner with a cable modem.

I had an attack from something named igrbsjgtssdd.exe 2 days ago and finally got rid of it. It loaded into the tray and kept telling me (with pop-ups every few minutes) that I was infected and wanted me to buy protection for 29.95. Once I renamed it to .xex the pop-ups went away.

Can anyonetell me how to bring iexplorer & chrome back?

Could you first of all try booting into safe mode and attempting to use them there. This will help us determine if it's a virus blocking it as most viruss are stoppped from booting when your in safe mode.

First, good idea about renaming the extension. Sometimes the simplest of ideas can fix very big problems.

I don't have a solution I know will work for sure but have you tried clearing out all your cache, bookmarks and browsing data for Chrome? Even though you re-installed Chrome, your personal data could have been saved and re-loaded when the re-installation took place. If you have any other information or things you've tried it would help to fix the problem.

A lot of virus's that mess with your internet will change proxy settings within the browser. I don't use Chrome but in IE you go to

Tools > Internet Options > Connections Tab > Lan Settings

Make sure the check box by "Use a Proxy Server for Your LAN..." is unchecked. Sometimes this blocks the internet.
