    Is sec wire allowed?
    Hey guys,

Once again I'm in need of your expertise. Does anyone know if I can run sec #2 aluminum wire without conduit from my electric meter to my service panel in the city of Chicago? I went to an electrical supply warehouse and they said if it has cable not conduit, then I can use just the wire without conduit.

Unless a clerk behind a supply house counter has a license, they are not allowed to give out electrical advice.

Simple call to the local electrical inspector is in order.
