Where can I find a replacement drain for my 1980s jacuzzi whirlpool tub?
I am trying to replace the entire waste and overflow, including the bathtub drain flange, for a Jacuzzi whirlpool tub. The problem that I have run into is that the tub is an older model tub, and the drain hole in the tub is only 1 3/4 inches wide. The threaded part of the drain flange (that goes into the hole) is 1 5/8 inches wide. I can not find a replacement drain flange that will fit the tub. I have tried replacement kits, I have contacted Jacuzzi, and I have contacted all of my local plumbing supply stores. I am finding it hard to believe that there is not a replacement waste and overflow kit (with a correctly sized drain flange) that exists.

If anyone has any knowledge of where I might be able to find the correct parts for my tub or has any suggestions about how to handle this challenge, I would be very appreciative.

That should be generic drain with standard dimensions. Can you take a picture of it and post it for us to see ? Thanks...

    Milo,

I have attached two pictures, one with a ruler next to the drain hole opening in the bottom of the tub. The overflow cap that you see is not the original. It is just holding some PVC piping in place until l get this figured out. The original part is a trip lever drain.

When I talked to Jacuzzi, they told me that the standard drain opening is now about 2 1/4 inches wide which seems correct given the replacement parts I have come across so far. The basic problem, again, is that I can't find a drain flange small enough to fit the opening in my tub.

    Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the visuals. Yes, it is a regular drain. Did you try to buy Tub Overflow and install it ?

If it comes to it, you can always ream it out to 2" opening...

Drain & Overflow assemblies are standard sizes as far as the hole goes however, the height of the tube from the drain to the overflow will require an extended one if it is a jetted tub. They are much deeper than the regular soaker tubs most homes have. Your best source for those are a local plumbing wholesale outlet. http://www.uspartscenter.com

You will likely not find anything for your tub to match your old system and would be best just looking for NEW drain & over flow in the color you want and change out the complete set.
