Possibilities:
. Strut Mounts--rubber bushing may be causing the noise.
. Stabilizer Bar End Links.
Any chance it is the all wheel drive and a need for that fluid to be changed?
As TxGreaseMonkey, I can say you definitely want to change all fluids when specified in your Owner's Manual. However, you particularly mentioned the rubber sound, which my suggestions took into consideration. I don't think the all-wheel drive would be a factor.
Try disconnecting both Stabilizer Bar End Links and see if the noise goes away. If it does, then you have identified the source of the noise. End links are pretty notorious for making noise. I've had new ones start making noise after 20,000 miles or less. If you end up buying replacements, be sure to get a set that comes with a lifetime warranty.
Thank you so much!
Did you find out the source of the noise?
I am going to take it into my mechanic and have them check it out. I wanted to get an idea about what it could be before I brought it in so your responses have been very helpful- thank you
