Maytag fridge compartment not cooling - repair or replace?
I have a 12-15 year old Maytag MTB2156BE (freezer on top) unit. Months ago, the fridge compartment was only cooling to 48 degrees or so. I removed the back panel from the freezer, and found tons of frost. In addition, frost was blocking the channel that cold air uses to travel from the freezer to the fridge. I thawed it all, replaced the freezer panel, and all was well. But now again, my fridge is not staying cool. After removing the back panel this time, there was frost again (not as much as before), and nothing blocking the channel. I defrosted it again, and this time, I can barely feel cool air reaching the fridge, where before I could feel it blow in more. Playing with the temperature slide bar doesn't have an effect. To me, there are two issues - one is the fact that the defrost ability is not working in the freezer. The other issue is that the cold air from the freezer seems to be inhibited in making it to the fridge to some degree. (The fan is working just fine - and the freezer unit is plenty cold). So, what can be done to repair this fridge, or would it just make sense to replace it?
