    I'd like to point out that AMHD is not a chat site and you sometimes have to wait before you get an answer.

    The easiest way to solve your equations is by equating them (similar to substitution).

    y=3x-8
    y=4-x

    Which means that :

    y=3x-8 =4-x

    Hence:

    3x-8 =4-x

    Then you solve for x.

    If you want to go for elimination, then subtract the second equation from the first:

    Code:

    y = 3x - 8
    y = -x + 4
    0 = 4x - 12

    Then you go from there to solve for x.

    When you get x, use that value to solve for y.
