I installed a new drain for a shower, moving the drain to the middle of the floor, glued everything, ran a test of water through the drain and noticed there was water under the old black p- trap in the floor wall. Dried everything and tried again, same result.

Can black pipe p-traps corrode and or is there something else to consider?
