Here's my question. I removed an electric range top and replaced it with a gas one. I now have a 220 line left over. I would like to use it for a sub panel. I need a 120. Line for the gas range top,I also put in a microwave over the range. I would also like to put in a line for some cabinet accent lights. Could I use thesubpanel to run two 15 amp breakers and a20 amp breaker for the microwave? The 220 line is only 10gauge 30 amp cable. Or do I have to run new homeruns.

What is the 220 line rated for? What size breaker is on it? That's what will give you your 110 rating. Its always best to run a new line but if your going to sub it out and split it then the amps are doubled to 110.

Yes you can use the #10-3 with ground cable connected to the 30 amp breaker for a two or four circuit subpanel.

Are the grounds and neutrals supposed to be on separate bus bars and the panel should not be bonded to the ground bar.
