I have checked all pulleys, keepers, and replaced the CORRECT belt, twice. The mower would run no more than 30 minutes, then the LOWER drive belt would break. It would be totally chewed up. This is getting expensive, so I took it to a service center I normally use, who has given me great service. They replaced the Lower drive belt, again, and charged me $58.00. They said nothing else was defective. After 20 minutes, same thing. Chewed up belt. Can anyone help me?

MTD requires a serial number to look up the parts diagram. Can you post it?

If you go to index and you can look up the mower and get the Dayco number. With he Dayco number, you can go to a NAPA store and get a belt.

What I think I'd like you to do is move all of the parts by hand that the belt would move to feel the friction in the parts.

Replace the belt and run the mower for about 10 minutes.

Take the belt off and move all of the same parts. Bet, there is friction that happens when something warms up.

I just had this happen to a snow blower. It's going to be a pain to fix. Lack of lubercation on a shaft and no operators manual. The thing is like 40 years old.

Meanwhile I'll look at the diagram.

It looks like they do, but just put in a "1" without quotes to "cheat" and get the manual. At any rate I get as being a 13AF608G062 as the full model and the manual is at this link:

PS A double actually 1) does the shop stand behind their work, and 2) page 23 is where the directions are.

I checked Dayco and they don't list that model. Dayco's site is a pain to use.

I find it to be a 754-0467 and that it is .625"(5/8") X 90.8" which is about normal for MTD being a custom length. Not completely sure that I would trust the other either as many are custom there also.
