My 1995 honda civic turns over won't start
I have a 1995 Honda Civic and I need help. The problem is it turns over but won't always start. The key turns over the lights go off but it won't start. I believe that my dad changed out the distributor and cap and plugs and I think the coil if it is inside where the distributor is. It doesn't done this in a bit but this time it wouldn't turn start for the longest. Then we go out like an hour later and as long as it was in turn over position it started what can it BE

Does the Check Engine Light always come on for two seconds and then go out, when the ignition switch is turned to ON (Position II)? This is key information for me to know.

That tells me the problem is likely with the distributor--not the ECM. Over 50% of new aftermarket distributors for Hondas, at AMHD, have not worked. See if you can exchange the distributor you have for another one. The ICMs and coils tend to be fine, in the aftermarket distributors. Instead, the problem resides with one or more internal sensors (CKP, TDC, or CYP) not working. These sensors are not repairable. The best solution may be to replace the distributor housing with a Honda genuine part and install an aftermarket ICM and coil, to keep the cost down.

Do you hear the fuel pump run for two seconds, when the ignition switch is turned to ON (Position II)?

OK so your saying to change all the distributor housing and all the pieces inside. Sorry I am not mechanic its my dad (haha). So I need to go to honda and buy a new housing and then go to autozone and but the other stuff. That's where I got it all at autozone.

Ok so to take you back a little one morning it would start so my dad had come over to check it out and so we changed the dist cap and roter. So then I t started working FINE. So then sometime down the road it started fine one min, and then we started up and again and then it just died on us as we were driving. So we left it where it was came back it still wouldn't start turn over but no start. So that's when we changed the spark plugs and then the distruboe cap and roter and what comes with that IDK

Since you bought the replacement distributor at AutoZone, take it back to them and ask for another or ask for your money back.

Personally, I'd ask for your money back and use it to buy a Honda genuine distributor housing and install an aftermarket ICM and coil. Then, you'll have the reliability you're after. Be sure to apply the heat transfer compound to the back of the ICM, if you go this route.

AutoZone, Advance Auto Parts, O'Reilly Auto Parts, RockAuto.com.

If money is not a factor, buy a whole new distributor from Honda.
