In order to continue getting-by in China , we need to learn English the way it is spoken.. .

Practice by reading the following conversation until you are able to
Understand the term "TANJOOBERRYMUTTS" . With a little patience,
You'll be able to fit right in.
    Now, here goes...
The following is a telephonic exchange between maybe you as a hotel
    Guest and room-service today...

    Hi, sergie!

Yes, I do understand! It's amazing how a language barrier can degenerate to the point that neither side is really understanding what the other side is trying to convey!

    Thanks!

It works better when your shout. But then they can't understand you either way loud or soft.

It is a funny joke. But not so funny in person.

Reminds me of the time my son had to use the restroom and the Asian clerk didn't understand him until he spoke very rapidly. Oddly, then the guy understood him. To this day I've never figured that part out.

Also, another time I was in line behind a Chinese man. He kept asking the clerk for a "come dum". After much going back and forth it was figured out that he wanted a condom.

    I really like "Anglish moppin"!

Almost sounds like it might be legitimate! (At least, for something else.)

    Thanks!
