I have a baseboard oil fired hot water boiler that I have just finished and the boiler fires OK however I am not getting heat anywhere in my home the supply pipe is hot up to the first 90 above the boiler and cold after that can anyone please help me out

40 lbs is way to high, your pressure relief valve should be blowing off at thirty psi. You should only have between 12 and (at most) 25 psi. You said you just got done installing the boiler. Did you purge the lines and bleed all registers? Sounds like and air lock problem. Double check that pressure reading and let me know if its really at forty. If it is, shut the unit down and have a pro in to look at the system.

I checked the gauge on the front of the boiler and it reads 40 the blow off valve isn't opening on the back of the boiler though could I have a bad gauge

I suggest like mygirlsdad said that you contact a professional ON SITE service person to sort all your problems out. You can create a bomb out of this boiler if you are not careful since the safety must be plugged or not installed for this boiler to reach 40 psi. My concern is for your safety as well as for the safety of others in the building.

It could but that really depends upon who engineered the system. Pipe restrictions can caue problems with flow and your system should have automatic ventors on it at least at the high point of the system.
