Maybe you could make a little stand for it with some cinder blocks or something to get it up off the floor away from the carpet... as long as there isn't a danger of it being knocked over by a child or pet, it might give you a little peace of mind.
There is usually a warning on them to keep a certain distance from furniture and fabrics... so your concern makes sense to me.
