Honeywell RLV310 with Radiant Heat
Hi, complete newbie here.
I am replacing the ancient thermostats in my home with the honeywell ones made for radiant ceiling heat. 2 of the 3 I am replacing work fine. The 3rd is wired the same as the others but the heat always stays on. The thermostat shows the temperature reading, but it doesn't cut off when it is supposed to.
The directions I followed that came with the thermostat are below.
I have 2 red wires that are the ceiling heat, I have one black and one white wire coming from the circuit breaker, the thermostat has two black wires.
I connected one of the thermostat wires to one of the red wires, and one of the thermostat wires to the black wire from the breaker, then I connected the white wire to the red wire. I have also tried to switching the reds, and switching the black and white to the red.
To me, it makes sense that if one of the wires from the breaker is connected to one of the ceiling wires then the heating elements will always have power and therefore always heat... but the directions say to do it this way.
Can I connect both red wires to one of the thermostats black wires, and both wires from the breaker to the other thermostat wire?
Please help... it's getting cold here in central PA.
