Hi everybody, here's what I got... I have an existing 6/2 romex (240volt 50 amp) that powered the old oven in the kitchen. Now I know that most new ovens require an insulated neutral conductor for the electronics and display features, however my question is this... does anybody know if new ovens that do not require an insulated neutral are readily available or are they a dying breed and not easy to find. Just want to be sure I have to rip out this old cable cause it's a lot of work. Alllot of drywall. Thanks in advance for the help. Great site!

I just bought a oven last year and used 2 wires and a ground

Using an existing cable with two insulated hots and one bare neutral/ground is allowed for a new range or dryer by the NEC 2008. The frame of the appliance needs a jumper to the neutral terminal at the appliance.

New installations, ie: new cable, must now be four wire, with an insulated neutral and either insulated or bare equipment ground, and the frame of the appliance only get grounded to the equipment ground, leaving the neutral insulated and isolated.
