    1990 Honda Civic
My sons civic won't start. We traced the no spark problem to the coil. After replacing the coil, it fired right up. It ran most of the day, that is fired up on several stops at friends houses; however, in the evening it quit... no more spark to the coil. When testing the issue again, we found the ground wire to the coil is hot? If we run a test light to the ground wire where it conects to the coil and probe the same wire on the outside the coil housing, it rejuvinates the coil and it sparks again... only temporarily? Help...

The next step is to replace the distributor housing (genuine Honda only), since the internal sensors (CKP, TDC, and/or CYL) are likely damaged. These sensors are not serviceable. Over half of all new aftermarket distributors for Hondas, bought by AMHD members, have not worked--it has not mattered where they came from. Install your new ICM and coil in the new distributor housing. Shop on line to get a deal.

Okay, we replaced the distriibutor and it fired, died, fired, died and now no spark again. We have checked all the fuses and replaced the ecu as well. Next step?

Did you replace the distributor housing with a genuine Honda part?

Clean the main ECM ground, located on the thermostat housing. If the problem persists, perform ALL tests in Section 1 and 2 below:
