Outside cast iron stack in PA Want to replace with PVC
I just bought a house and it was build in the 1920s. The drainage stack is outside the house and it is starting to leak. I am trying to decide if I should just patch the leaks or replace it with PVC. I am not even sure if that would work. Any suggestions as to where I should start?
    Thanks

Before we can advise you we have to know what it is you wish to do. Repair or replace. Where's the cast iron leaking from? A crack in the pipe or from the joints?
    Let me know. Tom

I think that the leak is from the joint. I was just planning on being proactive seeing as the cast iron is very old.

To stop that leak is a 5 minute job with no fittings used. Interested? Tom

Once Toms gives you the solution, let us know if you are still interrested in replacing with pvc. All it takes is cutting off the cast iron, and using a shielded adapter clamp to connect pvc to cast iron. Careful, the cast iron is very heavy, so take necessary precautions to make the job safe.
