The ignition system is likely so weak that it will only fire off with starting fluid. Perform general maintenance on the car:
. Replace spark plugs (NGK only) with the exact ones that came in the car.
. Replace Ignition Control Module (ICM) and coil, if they have never been replaced:

I recommend replacing the ICM and coil every 120,000 miles or 10 years, whichever comes first.
. Replace spark plug wires, rotor, and distributor cap, if they have not been replaced in 80,000 miles. Use dielectric grease on connectors.
. Clean throttle plate, throttle body, and upper and lower ports.
. Clean air box and install new air filter.
. Replace fuel filter.
. Add Shell Regane or Chevron Techron to the gas.
I already replaced plugs rotor cap fuel filter wires coil about a month ago and it has a k&n air filter
