1999 Honda accord LX V6 starts fine, but cuts off more and more while driving.
My son has a 1999 Honda accord LX V6. It has had an issue for closed to a year where the car shuts off on him while driving down the road. He pulls over cranks it up, sometimes on first try, but not more than three. There are times where it has gone a month with no issues, but now quite often in a day of on and off driving while at college.

I have checked, cleaned, and tightened battery terminals. All connections to alternator, and coil appear fine. The car starts, runs and idles beautifully. It has approx 125,000 miles on it.

I would like to try to fix and replace any and all ignition related parts that might be causing this problem due to finances!

    Please Help... Thanks... Todd

. Replace Ignition Control Module (ICM) and coil:

Here's what your ICM looks like and costs:

. Replace main relay, located left of the steering column. Turning the ignition key on and off will help you locate the main relay, by allowing you to hear and feel it "click." Main relays often have 7 wires going to them.

I recommend replacing all three items every 120,000 miles or 10 years, whichever come first. This should restore "like new" reliability and performance to your Accord.
