Have a Kenmore catalyst dryer. LCD shows e1 code and shuts off. Have to keep restarting to get it to dry. Anyone know what e1 is? Seems like a thermistor or sensor/over heat problem, but exact error code definition would be a great start.

Im not sure about the code, but I do think you are on the right path.
Check udner the dryer drum where the blower is at, for lint buid up. Also you can always check the resistance of the thermistor to see if its shorted or open while you are down there.
